Labor Day weekend is around the corner. This much-anticipated late-summer holiday rhymes with sunny days, time to relax, and garden parties.
Although we currently live in Italy (where Labor Day is actually celebrated on May 1st) we’ve kept several traditions from when we used to live the U.S. one of our favorites is certainly our September 2nd Family Garden Party!

Garden-parties are a great way to entertain family and friends without the pressure to cook a 4-course meal or clean the entire house!
Arrange your garden furniture in a nice but casual way, and prepare all the dinnerware on a table or cart.

Here’s our tip: in order not to stress too much, we usually we set up two tables and a cart: one table for food and drinks, one table for dinnerware (plates, glasses, silverware, napkins), and one cart with all your cocktail essentials. This way, everyone can grab what they need and play bartender on their own! Here below, we’ve prepared 5 simple cocktail ideas you can download and print for your guest! You can prepare all the different Bruschettas for a light dinner or pick just one or two options and complete the meal with our delicious Pasta Salad.

5 Easy Bruschetta Recipes For The Ultimate Italian Aperitivo.

 

BRUSCHETTA CAPRESE

 
8 ounces of fresh mozzarella
2 tbsp fresh basil
2 cups cherry tomatoes
8 slices bread or baguette toasted
 
Cut the tomatoes in half or thirds to desired size and chop the fresh mozzarella. Roll the basil to chop into fine strips. Combine the mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil together and gently stir to mix. Slice the baguette into desired size. You can toast the baguette if desired, or serve un-toasted with the tomato and mozzarella mix on top.
 
Wine to pair? Candoni Prosecco

 

FIG AND HONEY BRUSCHETTA

 

1/2 cup gorgonzola
8 figs, cut in half
1 tbsp thyme
4 tbsp walnuts, coarsely chopped
Pepper to taste
4 tbsp honey
8 slices bread or baguette
 
Spread the gorgonzola on the bread, top with the figs, thyme, walnuts, and pepper. Broil in the oven until the cheese starts to melt. Drizzle with honey and enjoy!
 
Wine to pair? Candoni Moscato
 

SALMON BRSUCHETTA

 

2/3 finely diced red onion
1/3 cup baby capers
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp yellow mustard seeds
1 cup cream cheese
1/4 chopped fresh chives
8 slices bread or baguette toasted
14 oz smoked salmon, thinly sliced.
 
Stir the onions, capers, lemon juice, and mustard seeds together and lightly season with salt. Blend the cream cheese and chives together, season with salt, and spread the cream cheese mixture over the toasted baguette. Place 1 slice of salmon on each baguette, and top with a spoonful of the chutney.
 
Wine to pair? Candoni Elviana Rosè
 

SCHRIMP BRUSCHETTA

 

16 shrimps
· Butter, fresh garlic, and fresh parsley
· 1½ cups grape or cherry tomatoes halved

4 tbsp. cream cheese
· 4 tbsp. pesto store bought or homemade
· 2 tbsp. pine nuts toasted
· 8 slices bread or baguette toasted
 
Put the shrimps in a pan with butter, and fresh minced garlic. Season with salt and pepper, and let them cook 2-3- minutes per side. Finish with fresh parsley. Spread some creamy cheese on the toasted bread and spoon on some savory pesto. Top the bruschetta with halved sweet tomatoes, previously cooked in a pan. Add 2 shrimps per bruschetta and a final sprinkling of toasted pine nuts.

TOMATO BRUSCHETTA

 

2 tsp. minced garlic
3 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 cups minced Roma tomatoes
1/3 cup thinly sliced fresh basil leaves
2 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. freshly ground pepper
8 slices bread or baguette toasted
 
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the tomatoes, garlic, basil, vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly and let sit for at least 15 minutes at room temperature to let the flavors marinate. Spoon the mixture on top of the toasted bread.

5 Easy Cocktail Recipes For Your Party.

 

CANDONI ROSSINI

 
8 hulled strawberries
1 lemon
3 tbsp. Sugar
Candoni Prosecco
 
Place all but 1 strawberry in a blender with the juice of half a small lemon and the sugar. Blend until smooth and pour the puree through a fine mesh strainer. Place a couple of spoonsful of the puree in the bottom of a champagne glass and top with Prosecco. Garnish with a strawberry on the side of the glass.
 

CANDONI SWEET COCKTAIL

 
1 peach
1 lemon
1 part of vodka (or soda for a low alcohol version)
Candoni Moscato
Ice cubes
Mint leaves
 
Chop up the peaches and lemon into 1/4-inch thick wedges and remove any large seeds. Fill the glass with ice, pour the vodka or soda and top with the Moscato wine. Stir gently and garnish with mint leaves.

CANDONI PINK COCKTAIL

 

2 parts of grapefruit juice
1 part of gin (or soda for a low alcohol version)
Candoni Rosè
Ice cubes
 
Fill a shaker with ice cubes, 2 parts of grapefruit and 1 part of gin or soda. Shake until it has cooled and pour only the liquid in a glass. Top with Candoni Elviana Rosè and garnish with small flowers.

CANDONI VENICE SPRITZER

 
1-part Candoni Pinot Grigio
1-part club soda
1-part Aperol (or orange juice for a low alcohol version)
Orange rinds
Ice cubes
 
Fill a glass with ice, add 1pt of wine and 1 part of Soda to fizz, and top with Aperol or orange juice for a low alcohol version. Twist the orange rind over glass and add.

 

CANDONI SANGRIA

 
2 parts Candoni Organic Pinot Grigio
1 part Fresh Lemonade & Grapefruit juice
1 part of Gin (or soda for a low alcohol version)
Lemon wedge & seasonal fruit for garnish.
 
Chop up the fruit into thick wedges and remove any large seeds. Add 2 parts of Candoni Organic Pinot Grigio, 1 part of fresh lemonade and grapefruit juice and 1 part of gin or soda for a low-alcohol version. Stir gently and garnish with mint leaves. Twist lemon rind over glass and add.
