International Women’s Day falls on Monday, March 8th in 2021. With the challenges the world has faced in the past year, the theme of International Women’s Day 2021 is #ChooseToChallenge. As the International Women’s Day website states, “A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change.”

Daughters of a Legend in the Wine Industry
Our Italian roots run deep, as our family has been involved in wine-making for more than 150 years. Our father, Armando De Zan is considered a legend in the wine industry, passionate about bringing Italian wine to the United States and around the world.
Both Caterina and I knew at a young age that we wanted to follow his footsteps. In fact even before finishing our Degrees we were involved in our family business. We were fortunate enough to live with our family in the United States for 10 years while we were growing up. Though now we live in Italy, like our father, we travel frequently to the United States and across the world to promote our family’s unique varieties of Italian wine. As women, this can sometimes be difficult, but we enjoy the challenge and use the skills our parents have taught us to keep the business evolving.
Combining our Love for Wine, People, and the World
With our unique backgrounds, living both in Italy and the States, we have gained an appreciation for people of all walks of life! We’ve loved learning about different cultures, holidays and recipes celebrated across the world. While our father passed on his passion for wine and business, our love for communicating our brands in a unique and memorable way comes from our mother, Elviana Candoni. She is our role model and she has taught us to be strong, independent, opinionated women.
An expert in the arts, marketing, and communication, our mother also shares her passion for promoting a sustainable lifestyle and helping the environment. For the past several years, we’ve been able to help with the Arbor Day Foundation, planting trees in the United States. Additionally, we’ve been able to create a line of organic, gluten-free, and vegan wines!
The creativeness we inherited from our mother helped inspire our latest sweet and fruity Moscato-based Ricco Wines, available in peach, mango and cherry. Caterina and I are always looking for new and fun ways to diversify the range of our quality wines appreciated around the world. We truly enjoy providing helpful party planning tips, cocktail ideas, cherished family recipes and more to our followers and look forward to sharing our new ideas soon in the future!
My mother, sister and I are very blessed to have the opportunity to use our talents in our family’s business. It was not that long ago that women were not allowed to work in business. However, we are happy that movements such as International Women’s Day were put into place to raise awareness and encourage women to strive for equality. We thank our buyers for making our dream jobs a reality. Every day is fun and rewarding at the Tenuta Polvaro Estate Winery.
